Wheelers ePlatform terms and conditions

Read the terms and conditions for schools and home educators (people who home school their children) for using the Print Disabilities Service's Wheelers ePlatform.

What we are offering

  • Wheelers provide a popular collection, selected for school-age readers. The selection considers what's popular for different ages and titles relevant to Aotearoa New Zealand.

  • This offer is available for Aotearoa New Zealand school students who have print disabilities. This includes students who struggle to use regular print and those with dyslexia.

  • The offer is available to students at state and state-integrated schools. The offer is also available to students who are home-educated.

  • The collection includes some classic ‘Gutenberg’ titles. These are titles that are out of copyright and so have no publisher restrictions. You can borrow multiple copies of Gutenberg titles at a time, for example, if several print-disabled students are studying the title at the same time. All other titles are for single-copy lending only.

  • ePlatform One Primary is a nationally shared collection for students in New Zealand primary schools.

  • ePlatform One Secondary is a nationally shared collection for students in New Zealand secondary schools.

Access

  • A username/password is provided for each print-disabled student. Up to 2 staff members who support the print-disabled students at the school may also request usernames/passwords.

  • The logins do not include student names. However, it is the school's responsibility to record student names against login details. The Print Disabilities Service will hold the logins (excluding student names) so we can collect usage data. We use this data to help ensure the collection is meeting demand.

  • Access to the Print Disabilities Service ePlatform is only for students and the staff/librarian who support them. Logins must not be shared.

  • It's the school’s responsibility to notify the Print Disabilities Service when students and staff are no longer attending the school.

  • It's the home educator’s responsibility to notify the Print Disabilities Service when students are no longer receiving home education.

Lending term and availability of titles

  • The lending term for eBooks and eAudios is 14 days.

  • A single school can borrow a maximum of one copy of a single title at one time.

  • Individual students can borrow a maximum of 2 books at the same time from the collection.

  • As it is a shared collection, not all titles will always be available to your students. However, Wheelers monitor and adjust the number of copies of high-demand books, where possible.

Suitability of content

  • eBooks and eAudios are provided with a recommended interest age, either in categories (e.g. teen or child) or in age groups.

  • National Library Services to Schools and the Print Disabilities Service has made every effort to ensure the books are suitable for the age range or category provided.

  • Some titles in the ePlatform One Primary collection are only available to students above year 6.

  • Additionally, the availability of some titles in the ePlatform One Primary collection has been limited to students above year 6.

  • However, as in all libraries, it is the responsibility of the school, whānau, parents and caregivers to provide guidance to students.
