Our Minister

The National Library is part of the Department of Internal Affairs. Our Minister is the Minister of Internal Affairs.

The National Library of New Zealand has been part of the Department of Internal Affairs since 2011.

The Minister of Internal Affairs is Hon Brooke van Velden.

When appointed to the portfolio, the incoming Minister receives a briefing from the Department of Internal Affairs, which includes advice relating to the National Library.
