Description

Shows head and shoulders of David Lange singing in the shower, and holding a bottle of Ron's Navy Brand shampoo, with its top, in the shape of Ronald Reagan's head, popping off. The steam at the bottom forms the words: "Viva Aotearoa".

Part of the poster exhibition "I protest" displayed in the Alexander Turnbull Library foyer, Feb-April 1997.

Refers to New Zealand's anti-nuclear stand against nuclear-powered American warships visiting New Zealand; this resulted in New Zealand's suspension from the ANZUS pact in 1984-85. The song "I'm gonna wash that man..." comes from the 1950s musical "South Pacific", where it was sung by the female lead.
