About Te Puna WebCat

WebCat is a web-based interface that allows you to add holdings or short bibliographic records to the National Bibliographic Database (NBD). Your records are updated immediately and can be viewed in WebCat or Te Puna Search.

WebCat also allows you to download MARC records into your own library catalogue.

Benefits of WebCat include:

  • allows creation of holdings records
  • ability to copy MARC 21 records across to the NBD from OCLC WorldCat and selected other remote sites, so you can add your holdings
  • copy cataloguing
  • choice of templates when creating bibliographic records
  • real time updating for all new bibliographic and holdings records
  • industry supported standards - Z39.50 to search databases, and MARC 21
  • search the 010 to the 999 of the MARC bibliographic record
  • batch files of MARC records (to which you added holdings) can be transferred to your local system via file transfer protocol (ftp).
