The Focus Programme is a two-year contract between the National Library and your school. It helps develop your school library and its access to information, and aims to strengthen library support for teaching and learning.
The Programme uses a strategic planning approach. This involves a school-based team led by the principal or a member of the senior management team, working with a National Library adviser. Together, we develop a strategic development plan based on the six guiding principles described in The school library and learning in the information landscape: Guidelines for New Zealand schools
The adviser supports your school as you implement the plan during the two-year period. After that we expect schools to continue library and information services development themselves, with further support from their adviser as required.
