Library advisers

School Services has library advisers in 14 locations around New Zealand. For any enquiry relating to your school library, phone or email your local library adviser. 

Advisers provide information and advice on all aspects of school library management and development, including:

  • the library's contribution to literacy
  • the library's contribution to information literacy
  • roles, recruitment and training of library staff
  • library management, management statements and procedures
  • ICT developments, including automation
  • developing an appropriate library resource collection of print and online resources
  • building, redevelopment or refurbishment of the library.

The Focus Programme

The Focus Programme is a two-year contract between the National Library and your school. It helps develop the school library and its access to the information landscape, and aims to strengthen library support for teaching and learning.
