Te Puna Interloan management system
Te Puna Interloan allows you to request and supply items from and to New Zealand and Australian libraries. This interloan management system is web-based, and uses VDX software. VDX is based on international interloan standards. There is also an automated interface with New Zealand’s national centralised Interloan Billing System (IBS).

Administration of New Zealand interloan
The Joint Standing Committee on Interloan (JSCI) of the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa (LIANZA) manages interloan in New Zealand. You can get more information about JSCI and the operational guidelines for the interloan scheme on the LIANZA website.
Directory of New Zealand libraries
Every year the National Library publishes a directory of libraries in New Zealand as both a website, and a book called New Zealand Library Symbols. The primary purpose of this information is to facilitate interloan.
A hard copy of the New Zealand Library Symbols book is available for $30 per copy (incl. GST and postage). You can order a copy by contacting us.
Te Puna subscribers can update their library details in the Directory of New Zealand Libraries online. Use your Te Puna Interloan logon ID at the Directory website. Non-subscribers can make changes by contacting Te Puna Support.

International interloans
The National Library can act as your agent for
international interloans. New Zealand libraries can get items from Australian
libraries through Te Puna Interloan. Australian libraries can borrow from New
Zealand libraries through Libraries Australia. Other libraries can also borrow
from us.
For more information, download the National Library handbook for interloan librarians.
Interloan Billing System (IBS) – charges between libraries
The National Library administers the centralised Interloan Billing System (IBS) on behalf of the Joint Standing Committee on Interloan. The IBS generates invoices for supply of interloans on behalf of interloan users. All payment is by direct debit/direct credit.
Trans Tasman Interlending
Trans Tasman Interlending enables Te Puna Interloan customers, and Libraries Australia Document Delivery customers, to request from and supply to one another. If you are a member of Te Puna Interloan, you automatically have access to Trans Tasman Interlending.
The National Library of New Zealand provides the invoicing and payments service for Trans Tasman Interlending. This is a separate scheme from IBS.
