Role & Vision
Learn about who we are, our role, vision, values, and the legislation that governs us.
Our History
The National Library was formed in 1965, when the Alexander Turnbull Library, the General Assembly Library, and the National Library Service were brought together.
Visiting Us
You can access our collections in two Wellington locations while the Library's building is being redeveloped. The Library's School Service centres are in Auckland, Palmerston North and Christchurch.
