New Generation National Library

Strategic Directions to 2017

The world is changing – so we need to also. National libraries are increasingly supporting the drive to knowledge-based economies and societies in a globally competitive world. Because information and communications technology is changing, it is vital that libraries redefine tasks and services to meet the challenges ahead.

The following strategic priorities were identified and will contribute to the implementation of the Next Generation National Library 2007-2017:

  • accessing New Zealand's digital memory
  • sharing our nation's stories
  • inspiring knowledge creation and economic transformation
  • enriching the user's experience
