Greetings
KIA ORA KOUTOU KATOA! Greetings to all of you! The Maori people welcome you to New Zealand – in their language Ao-tea-roa, the Land of the Long White Cloud.
A young woman, dressed in her colourful native costume, welcomes us at the gateway to a fortified village.
This Kowhai Gold booklet reproduced lists of Māori place names and meanings, proverbs and common words with a pronunciation guide; featured the legend of Hinemoa, looked at the haka, poi dancing, games and carving, welcomes and concerts, and noted the role of Māori guides at thermal attractions in the Rotorua region.
