New Zealand enjoys a successful film industry thanks to the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (2001-2003) by Peter Jackson but also to other New Zealand filmmakers such as Roger Donaldson, Geoff Murphy, Barry Barclay and Vincent Ward.
New Zealand film director Vincent Ward was the first New Zealander to win selection for the Cannes Film Festival competition with Vigil (1984) and then Navigator (1988). This poster is promoting his first film A State of Siege (1978).
