Canned meat
New Zealand’s first shipment of canned meat was in 1870. After this the exports of meat overseas grew rapidly and remains one of our key industries today. These labels collected by the Gear Meat Company are from four different meat companies in New Zealand – Canterbury Frozen Meat and Dairy Produce Export Co Ltd, Christchurch Meat Co Ltd, Wellington Meat Export Co Ltd, and Peach Brand.
