Trial, confession & execution of Wm Mobbs, 1870
Kenneth Webster was a great collector of material relating to Aotearoa, and many of the Alexander Turnbull Library’s great treasures came from his collection. But alongside his interest in historical artworks, manuscripts and maps, Webster collected ephemera, a more unexpected passion. This execution notice from the 1870s represents a more obsessive side to Webster’s collecting – a passion to own and order that could be focused on more humble objects as well as the grand objects that speak of national history.
