A trip to Hades, 1939
Charles Cabot was stage manager of the Opera House in Wellington, and his collection of theatre memorabilia was shaped by the opportunities of acquisition provided by his employment. These particular posters, which reveal that 1930s theatregoers in Wellington had a healthy appetite for the bizarre and outrageous, have been selected from a much greater selection of advertising, posters and programmes that Cabot collected in the 1930s and 1940s.
