Parade down Queen Street, Auckland

Peace Day celebrations marking the official end of the Great War took place throughout New Zealand.

Auckland's Queen Street was bedecked with bunting representing all the allied countries, and public buildings and offices were illuminated with coloured bulbs. Banners displaying 'God Save the King' and 'Peace on Earth', and others commemorating allied battles at Arras, Lys and Messines, stretched across the street.

The Central Post Office building provided a particularly precarious viewing platform for citizens eager to gain the best possible vantage point in order to view the procession.
