Movember, the manly month

Whether it's a walrus, a pencil or a handlebar – November has become the month of the moustache, or 'mo'. Get inspired for Movember with our collection of great moustaches through time, on Flickr.

The yearly charity event 'Movember' began in Australia in 1999, and has since become a worldwide phenomenon.

At the beginning of November, men register for the competition with clean-shaven faces. The Movember participants – known as Mo Bros – then have a month to grow and groom their moustaches, and gain sponsorship for their efforts. The competition closes with the chance to take away the Man of Movember title.

The overall aim of Movember is to increase awareness of men's health issues.
