We support primary, intermediate and secondary school teachers and students by providing a range of curriculum resources to supplement resources available in New Zealand schools.

National Library Schools Collection

The Schools Collection contains over 500,000 items to directly support the current New Zealand school curriculum, including books, videos and DVDs. Search for items using the National Library Catalogue.

The Curriculum Information Service operates from centres in Auckland, Palmerston North and Christchurch. Teachers and home schoolers can borrow items through their closest centre.

You can also borrow specific Schools Collection items by interloan through your local library.

The General Collections supports the current information needs of all New Zealanders, with a focus on resources relating to New Zealand and the Pacific. Material is mainly suitable for teachers and students at secondary school level.

You can borrow many items by interloan through your school library, or by contacting your closest Curriculum Information Service centre if you are a teacher or home schooler. Search for items using the National Library Catalogue.

Discover is a free database of multimedia resources selected for use by New Zealand schools in support of the Visual Arts and Music disciplines of the Arts/Ngā Toi curriculum. It provides works by New Zealand musicians, artists, photographers, designers and architects, both historical and contemporary.

Anyquestions.co.nz is an online chat reference service for all New Zealand school students. Students can get direct, real time help from a trained librarian to find information, and build searching and information-seeking skills.

EPIC

EPIC is an initiative by New Zealand libraries to give New Zealand schools access to a worldwide range of online resources. Recent additions include Grove Art and Grove Music online, and Encyclopaedia Britannica’s Britannica Junior and student editions for primary schools. You can use EPIC resources in the Library, or login with your school username and password on the TKI website.

Alexander Turnbull Library collections

Copies made from primary sources in the Turnbull Library collections could be used to support teaching and learning programmes, particularly at secondary school level. Search for items like photos, drawings, prints, maps and manuscripts using TAPUHI.
