Accessing our collections
You can access selected collections at our reading room at 77 Thorndon Quay, Wellington and at Archives New Zealand, while other collections are closed until the Wellington building is reopened in 2012.
Why the building redevelopment is necessary
Problems caused by the aging infrastructure of the building have increased the risk of a major failure that would cause irreplaceable loss to the heritage collections. Storage space for the collections is also an issue.
Protecting the collections
The care, protection and security of the collections is paramount, now and over the building redevelopment period.
