Content Services comprises three business units: Collection Management, Collection Description and Business Development.
Collection Management is responsible for:
- Acquiring and processing published material for the National Library
- Administering legal deposit
- Providing ISMN and ISBN services to publishers
- Circulating and providing interlibrary loan of items from the National Library's General Collections, including the Print Disabilities Collection
- Managing the National Library's General Collections and the Dorothy Neal White and Susan Price Collections.
Collection Description is responsible for:
- Describing all the National Library's published collections
- Describing periodical articles for INNZ (Index New Zealand)
- Providing CIP (Cataloguing-in-publication) and ISSN services to publishers
- Developing and maintaining Ngā Ūpoko Tukutuku Māori Subject Headings
- Contributing authority records to the NACO and SACO Programmes
- Contributing content to FindNZarticles and Publications New Zealand.
Business Development is responsible for:
- Coordinating overall planning for Content Services
- Developing and managing projects and new business initiatives for Content Services
- Contributing to collaborative projects with other libraries and organisations.
