Twitter is a micro-blogging site that lets you post 140-character updates to the web. That might not sound like much, but trust us - it's pretty addictive once you get into it.
The National Library's Twitter account is run by staff from the National Digital Library. Twice a day we post tidbits from our collections; it might be a photo of a giant cabbage, a 1930s advertisement for New Zealand apples, or a historical newspaper article describing cringe-worthy tooth-extraction methods. We're always keen to hear what you think of the weird and wonderful things we dig up. To quote one of our followers:
I love the NLNZ twitter...lovely quaint weird old photos from NZ archives put together by some weirdo with a great sense of humour. Genius! --Eileen_Joy
If you have any questions about National Library collections and services, feel free to use Twitter to get in contact with us. The staff running the account might not have the answers, but we'll put you in touch with someone who does.

In April 2009 we blogged about using Twitter: you can read the post on the LibraryTechNZ blog.
