9am to 5pm
Waitemata Room, Auckland Central Library, 44-46 Lorne Street

Access and preservation of New Zealand newspapers is a national issue. This one-day forum will cover a number of topics, but the key objective of the day is to answer the question:
- How we can work nationally and collaboratively to enable access to 'modern' newspapers and continue to preserve our national newspaper heritage through microfilm or digital copies?
The forum is likely to be of interest to people involved in the following organisations/industries: libraries, archives, museums, publishing, micrographics.
Special guest
Dr Markus Brantl, Director of the Digitisation Centre at the BSB Bavarian State Library, Munich, Germany, will be attending the forum. Dr Brantl will provide a presentation on the EU and German perspectives on newspapers and digitisation. Dr Brantl's visit is sponsored by the Goethe Institut.
