'A Capital Suburb: Pipitea Thorndon' explores the history of the suburb at the heart of New Zealand's capital. The exhibition features artworks, photographs and documents that track the history of the area. Watercolours and drawings from the 1840s record the activity and significance of the local iwi (tribe) Te Ati Awa in the developing New Zealand Company town of Wellington, and a selection of panoramic photographs shows the progress of Thorndon from beach settlement to thriving city suburb.
