Historian and author, John MacGibbon, will share some of his expertise on discovering and writing social and family history.

Family history research, boosted by computers and the Internet, has become a popular hobby. Many Kiwis are researching their wider families: joining family history societies, digging around libraries, archives and museums and spending countless hours in front of computers checking out ancestors, lives and times, from Bluff to Birmingham and beyond.

John is the founder and owner of the Ngaio Press, a boutique publisher specialising in books about New Zealand and New Zealanders. His book Going Abroad was widely praised as "showing other family historians how it should be done".
