Annual Report for 2010/11
The National Library of New Zealand's 2010/2011 Annual Report reviews the financial period from 1 July 2010 to 31 January 2011. The Department of Internal Affairs will cover the activities of the full financial year in its 2010/2011 Annual Report.
The report highlights activities including:
- Implementation of the New Generation strategy, including improved services to schools.
- Launch of the first digitised Appendices to the Journals of the House of Representatives.
- Further updates to Papers Past, the website that makes nearly 2 million pages of historical New Zealand newspapers easy to search and read online.
- The Alexander Turnbull Library continued to build and preserve its collections, digitising over 400,000 items for online access. It also assisted with over 45,000 individual research enquiries.
- Digital NZ helped organise Mix and Mash, a creative competition using digital content and data from around New Zealand.
- Aotearoa People's Network Kaharoa won the Australia and New Zealand Internet Best Practice Award 2010 in the "Best Access Initiative" category.
