Over 500,000 items are available through the Schools Collection, including books, videos and DVDs. Schools can also interloan music, books and serials from the National Library’s General Collections through their local Curriculum Information Service (CIS) centre.
Teachers and home schoolers can specify the items they require, or our staff can select the resources that best meet your topic needs.

All curriculum areas are covered.
Loan policy
You can borrow up to 30 items per class, although there may be restrictions on high demand topics. Resources are issued for 35 days. They can be renewed for two weeks unless someone else is waiting for them, or they're on a high demand topic.
Request resources
You can identify specific resources using the National Library Catalogue, or tell us the topic and we'll send you suitable resources. You will need to tell us the scope of the topic, curriculum strand, level, interests and needs of the pupils, reading ages of the pupils, and when you need the resources by.
Teachers, home schoolers and school librarians can request resources online, by phone, fax or email. See contact details below.
We suggest you allow at least two week's notice to ensure you receive your resources on time. Requests for specific titles are normally sent within 24 hours.
Loans are delivered free to schools. The cost of return freight is your school's responsibility.
